Supervisor V – Facilities Maintenance Parks and Recreation
Do you have facilities maintenance experience and enjoy leading a team that keeps public spaces clean, safe, and ready for the community? We are looking for a hands‑on, organized leader who takes pride in maintaining City park facilities.
What You’ll DoThe Supervisor V – Facilities oversees facility maintenance, janitorial operations, park litter removal, and building upkeep for the Parks and Recreation Department. This position helps ensure parks, restrooms, buildings, and recreation spaces are clean, safe, and ready for daily use, rentals, programs, and events.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise, schedule, train, and support facility maintenance and janitorial staff.
- Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of Parks and Recreation buildings, restrooms, offices, grounds, and facilities.
- Coordinate cleaning programs, inspections, supplies, budgets, contractor work, and weekend overtime schedules.
- Track work completion, timecards, attendance, reports, and facility maintenance needs.
- Assist with special events, facility assessments, seasonal needs, and City emergencies such as storms, snow, and flood control.
This position supervises full‑time Facility Maintenance employees and seasonal cleaning staff. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.
What You Bring- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Significant experience in facility maintenance, park maintenance, institutional building maintenance, or grounds maintenance.
- Experience supervising employees and coordinating daily work assignments.
- Strong knowledge of janitorial methods, floor care, cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly, solve problems, stay organized, and work professionally with staff, contractors, City officials, and the public.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related computer programs.
- Ability to learn department systems including Main Trac and Rec Trac.
- Knowledge of facility inspections, cleaning schedules, supply tracking, keypad access, and maintenance reporting.
- Basic math skills for measurements, percentages, area, volume, and facility‑related calculations.
This is a 40-hour‑per‑week position and may require evenings, weekends, overtime, and on‑call availability as needed. Work may include indoor and outdoor conditions year‑round.
