St. Joseph, Hessen Cassel - Custodian

Description

St. Joseph Hessen Cassel is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming physical environment for our students, staff, and visitors. The custodian plays a vital role in caring for our campus facilities and supporting the school's mission to provide a secure and faith-filled atmosphere.

Daily Cleaning & Sanitation: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and cafeteria areas following established sanitation standards.

Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling receptacles daily; dispose of waste in outdoor dumpsters and replace liners.

Restroom Maintenance: Clean and disinfect restrooms, clean fixtures, and replenish supplies (toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels) throughout the day.

Grounds & Facility Care: Assist with keeping outdoor walkways clear of trash, snow, ice, or debris; ensure entryways are clean and safe for arrivals and departures.

Event Setup & Teardown: Set up and take down tables, chairs, and basic equipment for school events, Catholic parish functions, assemblies, and athletic activities.

Safety & Security: Ensure doors and windows are secured at the end of shifts, report safety hazards or needed major repairs to management, and handle cleaning chemicals safely.

Experience: Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred (school or institutional setting is a plus).

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical labor for extended periods.

Self-Motivation & Reliability: Strong work ethic, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and excellent attendance/punctuality.

Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with basic safety practices, tool operation, and safe handling of cleaning products (SDS guidelines).

Compliance: Must pass a criminal background check and complete diocesan Safe Environment / Safe Conduct training requirements.

Position Type: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)

Hours: Approximately 12-15 hours per week
