Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Grade 1 Maintenance Technician assists with routine facility and equipment maintenance under direct supervision. This role supports basic repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and general upkeep of the building and production areas. The technician is responsible for safely using tools and equipment, following instructions, and helping maintain a clean and safe work environment. This position is designed for individuals developing foundational maintenance skills and gaining experience in mechanical, electrical, and facility systems

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with basic facility and equipment maintenance tasks as directed by senior technicians or management.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and simple adjustments.
  • Follow work instructions, maintenance checklists, and verbal direction to complete assigned tasks.
  • Safely use hand tools, basic power tools, and maintenance equipment after proper training.
  • Help maintain maintenance areas, tools, and equipment in clean and organized condition.
  • Assist with moving materials using forklifts or overhead lifting equipment if trained and certified.
  • Support simple facility repairs such as replacing light bulbs, filters, or minor hardware.
  • Report equipment issues or abnormalities to senior technicians for further evaluation.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred

Skills:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn maintenance skills.
  • Ability to read and understand simple work instructions.
  • Ability to safely use basic tools and equipment after training.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
  • Forklift or manlift certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems is helpful but not required.

Physical Demands:

  • Potential for long shifts and/or weekend (Saturday and Sunday) work based on production needs.
