Job Summary
The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the facility while directly supervising and supporting the janitorial team. This role ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, oversees daily cleaning operations, and reinforces the company’s commitment to hygiene and safety. In addition to performing janitorial duties, the Supervisor coaches and manages the janitorial team, coordinates schedules, verifies task completion, manages inventory, coordinates vendors, and supports special projects.
The role requires strong leadership, accountability, and communication skills to ensure consistent cleanliness and operational efficiency across all facility areas.
- Supervise, train, and support janitorial team members to ensure high performance and adherence to standards.
- Assign daily cleaning tasks and adjust priorities based on facility needs.
- Monitor performance and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and accountability.
- Ensure all janitorial tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Manage team schedules, including coverage for absences and time‑off requests.
- Promote a positive, professional, and safety‑focused work environment.
- Maintain janitorial inventory, track supply levels and communicate supply needs for replenishment in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with vendors (e.g., uniform and cleaning services) and ensure services meet company standards.
- Plan and execute special cleaning projects as directed by management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for janitorial operations and communicate effectively with the Office Operations and Facilities Manager and other departments.
- Identify and elevate facility or sanitation issues as needed.
- Perform and oversee routine cleaning and sanitation across offices, restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, production areas, and common spaces.
- Collect and dispose of trash and replace liners throughout the facility.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize high‑touch surfaces, including desks, tables, lockers, door handles, and shared equipment.
- Clean and maintain restrooms and breakrooms, including fixtures, appliances, and surfaces.
- Clean glass surfaces, mirrors, windows, and entryways.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors across all facility areas, including hallways, walkways, and staircases.
- Maintain cleanliness in production and shipping areas, including workstations, sinks, and surrounding spaces.
- Perform routine dusting of vents, ceilings, and light fixtures.
- Restock sanitation supplies, including paper towels, soap, hairnets, and beard nets.
- Maintain organized janitorial supply areas and ensure proper chemical storage and safety compliance.
- Coordinate and oversee service providers during scheduled visits.
- Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and organized in production‑related areas.
- Conduct final trash collection and disposal rounds.
- Recheck restrooms and breakrooms to ensure supplies are stocked and areas are sanitized.
- Perform a final facility walkthrough to confirm cleanliness and secure janitorial supplies.
- Report maintenance or sanitation concerns to the Office Operations and Facilities Manager.
- Follow food safety and quality protocols.
- Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least 2 years of janitorial experience is required.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience required.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures (OSHA compliance) is required.
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment is required.
- Knowledge of food safety sanitation practices, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
