Primary Purpose

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures while keeping a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of the building's operations.

Special Knowledge/Skills

* Team oriented attitude and desire to work collaboratively with ESC staff campus/district/charter school personnel.

* Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.

* Ability to lift and operate heavy cleaning equipment.

* Ability to lift and transport collected trash from the building to outside receptacles.

* Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position may be partially or completely funded using grant and/or federal monies and is assigned programs to include activities designed to enhance the effective and coordinated use of funds.

* Actively participate in and/or provide leadership for inter-departmental teams to help improve student performance in the region, improve the ESC internal operations, and meet the established goals and objectives for the ESC.

* Is responsive as the first point of contact to all stakeholders in the education community.

* Is responsible for cleaning the assigned area of the building including but not limited to the tasks listed on the schedule of duties for custodial staff.

* Comply with local laws and procedures for the proper storage and disposal of trash and recyclable paper and products.

* Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request replacements and repairs as needed.

* Assist with meeting room set-ups as needed.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment/Specialized Software Used

Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, carpet extractor, and other hardware necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the functions of the job.

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors)

Mental:
Public relations and people skills are always required, work with frequent interruptions, and maintain professional composure and confidentiality under stress.

Physical:
Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Environmental:
This could include working outside and inside the facility, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces and ladders; and exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, and toxic chemicals and materials.

Evaluation

Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need, and funding.
