This position is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation work of the University, or on special projects.

Responsibilities include:

sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; cleaning and vacuuming carpets and rugs; dusting furniture, walls, ceilings, windows, windowsills, woodwork, and other surfaces; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and other fixtures; removing trash and recycling; moving furniture for cleaning; observing safety and security precautions; unlocks building doors as required for events and programs.

There are no minimum education or experience requirements. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to read and understand labels on chemicals; ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (e.g., measuring and mixing chemicals); knowledge of cleaning methods and proper use of cleaning equipment; ability to operate vacuum cleaners, floor waxers, floor buffers, and other cleaning equipment; physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating cleaning equipment, and lifting of materials and equipment;

ability to recognize and report maintenance needs in buildings; knowledge of safety and security precautions applicable to the work performed.

Stable employment record. Physically able to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating cleaning equipment, and lifting of trash and equipment.
