About the Role
As a CBRE Power Plant Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing critical building systems and infrastructure within a central power plant for a large hospital campus in Fort Worth, Texas.
In this vital role, you will continuously monitor, maintain, and repair essential operational systems, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for the healthcare facility. This position requires a proactive approach to facility maintenance, a strong commitment to safety, and expertise in various building trades.
In this role you will initially train on the 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM), with the duration depending on individual learning pace and proficiency. Following training, you will transition to the 2nd shift, working Tuesday through Saturday from 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, where your pay will be increased due to shift differentials.
What You’ll Do- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs across a broad spectrum of building systems, including mechanical, HVAC, structural, and life safety components.
- Ensure all facility and building systems adhere to applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency directives, and company standards.
- Implement and manage an energy management program, continuously striving for the most efficient operation of all building systems.
- Contribute to the execution of a robust preventive maintenance program to maximize the lifespan and reliability of building machinery and systems, including routine preventive maintenance on air handlers, exhaust fans, chillers, and boilers within the hospital power plant facilities.
- Conduct thorough inspections of critical building systems, including HVAC, to confirm operational integrity and ensure environmental conditions meet client specifications.
- Respond promptly to service requests and operational issues, including addressing temperature control calls (hot and cold).
- Adhere strictly to departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a consistently clean and secure work environment.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
- Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of your job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
- Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Work to build consensus and convince others to reach agreement.
- Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within your own team and other related teams.
- Work within broad guidelines and policies.
- Explain difficult or sensitive information.
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Prior working experience within a power plant facility.
- Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
- Sophisticated math skills, ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
