Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of all production and facility equipment at Circle U Foods. This position focuses primarily on production equipment maintenance, including preventive, corrective, and emergency repairs, while also supporting facility maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Technician collaborates with department leaders and production teams to minimize downtime, troubleshoot technical issues, and support continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems according to established schedules.
  • Follow preventive/predictive maintenance plans to help minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform unscheduled repairs as needed.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems; repair or replace defective parts.
  • Interpret and apply information from manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • Perform general facility maintenance, including basic plumbing, lighting, carpentry, HVAC filter replacement, and other non-licensed repairs and installations.
  • Assist with facility upkeep such as moving or assembling furniture, installing fixtures, changing light bulbs, and maintaining general building areas.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas to promote safety, efficiency, and compliance with food manufacturing standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and material-handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Attend maintenance and production meetings as required and communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update maintenance management software (CMMS) as directed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude under fast-paced, changing priorities.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • Mechanical systems (gearboxes, motors, seals, bearings, chains, sprockets)
  • Electrical systems (low-voltage control circuits, motor controls, VFDs, PLC troubleshooting)
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics
  • Root Cause Analysis and diagnostic troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, scales, metal detectors, and vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) systems preferred
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial or production maintenance experience required
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety standards preferred
  • Experience with maintenance management software (CMMS) a plus
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (Spanish proficiency preferred)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, twist, reach, kneel, and crawl for extended periods during a 8+hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work may require climbing ladders, working at heights, and accessing rooftop equipment.
