Salary: $23.00 - $23.00 Hourly
Shift: Swing (Monday
- Friday, 4 pm to 9 pm)
Under the supervision of the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager, the Building Maintenance Custodian II is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and safe conditions of buildings and surrounding grounds at which HSRC operates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas including kitchens, bathrooms, dining rooms, break rooms, activity rooms, elevators, drinking fountains, and garbage bin areas; follow task checklist and replenish supplies as needed.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining floors, including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping, wax application and/or stripping, floor restoration per manufacturer's guidelines, vacuuming and spot cleaning of carpets.
- Perform minor building maintenance on assigned buildings such as changing light bulbs, replacing soap dispensers, replacing light fixtures, and making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and furniture; report the need for maintenance, repair, or potential problems to the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager.
- Move office furniture and equipment as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness of doors, windows, walls, tables & countertops, ceilings, fans, blinds, furniture, and light fixtures; dust and polish woodwork and furniture.
- Maintain inventory of products used and communicate supply needs to the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager.
- Follow label instructions to mix and dilute cleansers, disinfectants, and stripping agents to ensure proper strength for use.
- Report any safety or fire hazards to the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager.
- Report unauthorized persons and other security problems to the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager.
- Work safely and efficiently, utilizing safe equipment, techniques, and products.
- Close windows, turn off lights, and lock doors to secure buildings; turn on building security systems and inspect for correct operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the grounds; remove debris, garbage, and green waste from the grounds and adjacent areas (e.g., parking lot, sidewalk, etc.). Conduct regular inspection of the grounds, including trash receptacles, windows, drains, etc.
- Perform regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, sidewalks, and buildings; perform weeding, thinning, and cleaning of landscaped areas manually and/or with applicable tools.
- Travel occasionally between various facilities to provide support for alternate HSRC locations as needed.
- Perform all tasks of Building Maintenance Custodian I as needed.
- Participate in the process of teaching, training, and mentoring new staff, student interns, and volunteers working within the program area.
- Participate in on‑call coverage in conjunction with the Building Maintenance and Operations Manager.
- Act in a manner consistent with agency values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- One (1) year experience in custodial tasks and knowledge of proper cleaning techniques preferred.
- Experience with maintaining floors (stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning) preferred.
- Experience cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred.
Valid California Driver's License, and personal auto liability insurance required. Must have a personal vehicle in good driving/operating condition, insured for State minimum liability requirements, and that can be used for the applicable job functions noted above.
Pre‑Screening Requirements- Requires clearance of a DOJ and FBI criminal history background check.
- Pre‑employment physical and PPD skin test.
- Requires Motor Vehicle Report verification.
- COVID‑19 and Influenza vaccines preferred.
