District Facilities Foreman (School District)
Job Summary

The District Facilities Foreman is responsible for performing semi-skilled duties in the operations, maintenance, and repair of all school district facilities, including school campuses, administrative buildings, athletic facilities, landscaping and support sites. The position will also oversee maintenance and landscaping staff, ensure facilities are safe and well-maintained for students and staff, and support the district's educational mission through effective facility management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directs and performs skilled mechanical maintenance work in the installation, operation, repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and basic electrical systems for the District.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling daily and weekly maintenance activities for the maintenance and landscaping staff and assigned trades with the Facilities Maintenance Department.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate maintenance and landscaping personnel assigned to district facilities.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance and repair activities for schools, administrative offices, gymnasiums, cafeterias, athletic fields, landscaping and other district properties.
  • Promotes preventative maintenance by inspecting district facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and code compliance issues.
  • Assign and monitor work orders to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintains HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, carpentry, irrigation, and other building systems.
  • Ensure facilities meet applicable health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and respond to facility-related incidents that may affect school operations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventories of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating facility improvement projects, renovations, and campus upgrades.
  • Work collaboratively with principals, district and site staff to address facility concerns and prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate and inspect work performed by contractors and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
  • Support district emergency preparedness and response efforts.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices and compliance with district policies.
  • Procure and manage contracts and purchasing for the operation and maintenance of District facilities.
  • Contributes to the overall success of District Facilities by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Background Clearance Check
  • Experience using and maintaining hand and power tools normally associated with carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work preferred.
  • Willingness to perform routine manual work.
  • Ability to assign and supervise the work of others and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, community members, and other outside agencies.
  • Dependable with good attendance.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and Google Suites
  • Any combination of education, certifications, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of building maintenance practices, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of school facility safety requirements and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate employees.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects across multiple campuses.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in work order management systems and basic computer applications.
