for this type of employment, state law requires a state criminal history background check as a condition of employment. Under certain circumstances, a national criminal history background check may be required a condition of employment.

position title:
student worker

responsible to: program director

basic function: perform general light duties as assigned as a part of his/her high school program.

performance responsibilities:

  • assist in the diagnosis and repair of district vehicular equipment.
  • assist mechanic in maintenance of a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • assist mechanic in establishing an efficient and effective system of routine maintenance and repair.
  • assist mechanic in maintaining a record of all maintenance and repair work.
  • maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work connected areas.
  • complie with federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and machines (osha).
  • report all conditions that present safety hazards immediately to program director.
  • perform related duties as assigned.

knowledge of:

  • general cleaning methods and materials.
  • interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • basic record-keeping techniques.
  • health and safety regulations.

ability to:

  • communicate and maintain effective relationships with others.
  • print and write legibly.
  • understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • learn and apply safety procedures and regulations.

minimum qualifications:

  • demonstrated progress toward obtaining a high school diploma.

salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
