Duties

The Instructional "Innovation" Coach provides support for teachers in the implementation of effective and innovative instructional practices to ensure high academic achievement of all students. Innovation coaches provide job-embedded professional development and assist teachers in the use of assessment data, district curricula, personalized instruction, 21st century competencies, instructional design, and reflection. Innovation coaches are flexible, resilient, excellent communicators and creative problem solvers.

They are able to develop collegial relationships, listen, share ideas, and identify opportunities for growth. They understand the shifting educational landscape and stay up to date on educational research, pedagogy, and trends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Work one-on-one and in groups with teachers and students to provide ongoing instructional guidance and support with a strong emphasis on instructional technology and 21st century learning.

* Assist in identifying, planning, and facilitating workshops, and other programs that contribute to the professional learning of staff.

* Provide modeling and co-teaching of a variety of proven instructional methods, including the use of technology, curricular materials and assessments.

* Provide support for consistent implementation of adopted curricula and district initiatives and goals.

* Regularly communicate with teachers through conversation, e mails, memos, newsletters, web sites, study groups and other appropriate methods.

* Facilitate teacher observations and self-reflection. Provide non-evaluative feedback.

* Mentor first and second year teachers.

* Perform other duties related to the improvement of student achievement, including the provision of support in collecting and interpreting data from various sources.

* Collaborate with innovation team and administrators to share ideas, experiences, and feedback.

Qualifications

* Valid Illinois Teacher's License

* A minimum of five years of exemplary classroom teaching experience

* A rating of "Excellent" on his/her most recent summative evaluation

* A proven track record of the use of innovative instructional methods, the analysis and use of data to improve instruction, and the integration of technology to redefine and personalize learning

* The ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively

* Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position

* Evidence of own ongoing professional learning

* Possess a master's degree or demonstrate enrollment in a master's degree granting program, which must be successfully completed within two calendar years
