Position and Details
Position: Extrusion Operator
Location: Franklin Park
Compensation: $24.40/hr - $27.58/hr+ depending on experience
Shift Differential: 2nd - $0.75/hr ; 3rd - $1.25/hr
Shift: Open to any shift
Hours: 8-hour shift
While reporting to the Extrusion Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating extrusion equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring product quality standards are consistently met. This role requires strong attendance, mechanical awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll be joining a highly collaborative team where safety, reliability, and continuous improvement are key to success.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Set up and operate extrusion machinery while ensuring proper dimensions are achieved.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speed, pressure, temperature, material flow, and dimensions.
- Monitor product quality and notify the Lead Technician or Supervisor when product falls outside specifications.
- Record and maintain production data including meter readings, quantities, material types, and dimensions produced.
- Adjust machine controls including air pressure and die gaps as needed.
- Support efficient production flow while maintaining quality expectations.
- Follow all plant safety procedures and work practices.
- At least one year of extrusion operator experience in a plastic packaging environment.
- Operated or led extrusion equipment directly (not helper or roll hanger experience only).
- At least 2 years of machine operator experience.
- At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Injection molding experience.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability.
- Understanding of manufacturing and quality control principles.
- Wearing steel toe shoes and comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting ability.
