A well-established, family-owned plastics packaging manufacturer in Franklin Park is looking for an ambitious Operations Coordinator / Leader to join a close-knit team and grow into a senior leadership role. Responsibilities- Work directly alongside the VP of Operations on daily production scheduling, coordination, and operational decision making
- Manage and maintain production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and efficient use of resources
- Coordinate inventory and purchasing logistics including raw materials, packaging, and pallet deliveries
- Relay operational directives to shift supervisors and floor staff with authority and clarity
- Prepare operational reports, KPI tracking, and historical usage analysis to support forecasting
- Play a key role in the upcoming rollout and implementation of a new ERP system
- Coordinate communication between production, shipping, maintenance, quality, customer service, purchasing, and sales
- Support SQF food safety compliance including documentation, audit preparation, and corrective action tracking
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
- Build working knowledge of all aspects of the business in preparation for expanded leadership responsibilities
- BS/BA preferred or an equivalent of 5 or more years of manufacturing, analytical, and leadership experience required
- 3 or more years of production planning, material planning, or operations coordination experience in a manufacturing environment
- Plastics manufacturing experience is strongly preferred; injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion backgrounds are a strong fit; food manufacturing experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to think ahead and plan in a fast-changing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; ERP experience required
- Comfortable in both an office setting and on the production floor
- Ambitious, career-oriented, and enthusiastic about early starts and long-term growth
- Spanish or Polish language skills are a plus
- Small company or multi-function experience preferred; this is not a siloed role
- 5% bonus
