As a Territory Manager at National Lift Truck, you will be responsible for driving B2B sales of material handling equipment and services within a designated geographic area in the Chicago market. In this B2B outside sales role, you’ll build and maintain strong customer relationships with current and prospective accounts, secure equipment rental contracts, and drive sales of forklifts, aerial lifts, and other material handling equipment from top manufacturers like JLG, CLARK, Skyjack, JCB, and more.
You’ll work with an established industrial and construction customer base while also developing new accounts, backed by the strength of a company with 70 years of proven success and a reputation for providing exceptional customer service.
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of rental and sales accounts in the industrial, construction, and material handling industry
- Develop new customer relationships within your assigned territory
- Promote and demonstrate industry-leading material handling and aerial equipment including forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and telehandlers
- Demonstrate in-depth product knowledge and provide tailored equipment solutions that address customer needs and maximize their productivity
- Collaborate with our service, rental, and support teams to prepare accurate price quotes and proposals while ensuring a superior level of customer satisfaction
- Utilize Salesforce to accurately track pipeline opportunities, customer interactions, and sales activity
- Travel within your assigned territory to meet with clients, conduct product demonstrations, and attend industry events
- 3-5 years of professional outside sales experience (B2B, industrial/construction equipment preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated and results-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially email and calendar management in Outlook)
- Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
- A high level of resourcefulness, internal drive, and sales acumen
- Social media familiarity (Facebook, Linked In, You Tube, Twitter, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required
- Field-based sales role with regular travel to customer sites and periodic in-office collaboration
- Full-time
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Comfortable with frequent and extended travel by car
- Base salary plus commission
