Building Maintenance Technician

Under direct supervision of the Department of Public Works Supervisor, this position performs maintenance work on municipal buildings and maintenance of building equipment.

Job Duties:

• Performs a variety of tasks, including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pumps, compressors, motors, generators, repair, and replacement.
• Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs of all building systems, equipment, and fixtures.
• Performs outdoor maintenance such as raise/lower flags, building repairs, painting, window cleaning. Also supervises contractors to assure compliance with City specification.
• Maintains electronic building maintenance records, supply inventory, maintenance schedules, and equipment warranties.
• Works on holidays, weekends, and nights as needed to ensure safe and efficient building operations.
• Perform snow removal around the building grounds and on the public street system as needed.
• Cleans and maintains hallways, bathrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Set up rooms and places tables/chairs for meetings.
• Performs miscellaneous custodial tasks when necessary, to maintain proper appearance and safety.
• Assist vehicle maintenance staff as needed shuttling vehicles and parts.
• Changes garbage dumpster for GFL.
• Acquires bids and quotes on goods and services to fulfill procurement policy.
• Meets with contractors to escort them in apartments and other city owned facilities.
• Performs demolition.
• Removes, installs, and repairs appliances.
• Any other tasks requested by Supervisor or Superintendent.
