Overview

Skilled Maintenance – Grounds, Fraser Public Schools. Position:
Maintenance Skilled – Grounds (full time, other).. District/Organization:
Fraser Public Schools. Salary:
In Accordance with the Negotiated Contract.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions and communicate in writing.
  • The applicant must have good health and personal hygiene.
  • Exhibited leadership qualities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
  • Certificate or license in a specific skill, or equivalent experience desirable.
  • Grounds experience preferred.
  • Pesticide license required (3A, 3B and
    6). Must be effective within 60 days of starting date of position.
  • Must be willing to attend training sessions and/or classes to improve skills, as technology and/or school district’s needs demand.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal

Maintain and repair buildings, grounds and related equipment within established industry standards and district policies. Participate in preventative maintenance.

Assigned Responsibilities
  • Grounds Maintenance – Grounds leader, perform lawn cutting, trimming, edging, rubbish pick up to accomplish everyday tasks throughout the district.
  • Field maintenance/preparation – Perform game set up. Responsible for striping of all fields, field setup, field layout, and field maintenance (soccer, football, track, baseball, softball). Follow the electronic game calendar and have all fields set up and ready by game time. Coordinate rain day decisions with the athletic director and coaches.
  • Building Maintenance – Perform everyday repairs/maintenance on building components, including painting walls, caulking, repairing door hardware, door adjustment, vinyl tile repair and ceiling replacement; knowledge of hanging building components required.
  • Snow Removal – Perform snow removal when required; participate in snow and salt team; assist snow leader to clear district areas in a timely fashion.
  • Plumbing – Repair existing plumbing equipment (e.g., replacing fixtures, sinks, faucets, toilets; changing valves and internal stems as needed).
  • Electrical – Make minor repairs and/or install electrical fixtures, switches, outlets, ballasts and motors; assist electrical leader in tasks district-wide.
  • Mechanical – Make minor repairs and perform general maintenance on mechanical units (rooftops, air handlers, chillers, unit vents, boilers, condensers, refrigerator/freezer units); change filters, grease fittings, clean coils, replace belts and restart units; assist mechanical leader in daily tasks.
  • Trailers/Equipment – Experience towing trailers/equipment and moving district items safely.
  • Tools and Equipment – Knowledge of power tools, scaffolding and mechanical lifts.
  • Vehicle/Maintenance – Knowledge of small engine repair and basic vehicle maintenance (oil changes and minor repairs).
  • Supply/Parts – Minor laundering, ordering parts and materials for buildings.
  • Other duties – Performs tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations, Maintenance & Transportation; follows all safety procedures per O&M handbooks.
Terms of Employment

In accordance with the negotiated contract.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations and Maintenance or his designee.
