Education & Experience Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Two (2) years of facilities, maintenance, landscaping, or custodial experience preferred
- Valid Maryland Driver’s License required
- Experience with small engine operation, basic mechanical repair, or grounds maintenance preferred
- OSHA certification preferred (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction or General Industry)
- Experience with tools, heavy equipment, or facility construction/repair environments strongly preferred
- Prior experience in construction or skilled trades, including but not limited to:
- Electrical work (residential or commercial)
- Carpentry
- Masonry
- Welding
- Plumbing
- HVAC or mechanical systems
Facilities Manager
Position SummaryThe Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the upkeep, safety, cleanliness, and overall appearance of all facility buildings, grounds, vehicles, and outdoor environments. This role ensures a safe, sanitary, and well‑maintained environment consistent with behavioral health residential and outpatient care standards.
Core Duties and Responsibilities1. Groundskeeping & Landscaping
- Mow grounds using push mower, riding mower, or small tractor
- Trim vegetation using weed‑eater and landscaping tools
- Maintain flowerbeds, trees, rocks, and outdoor areas
- Perform seasonal grounds maintenance and general landscaping
- Ensure exterior environment remains clean, safe, and presentable
- Perform daily cleaning of interior facility spaces
- Vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, walls, and surfaces
- Clean and disinfect restrooms daily
- Stock restroom supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness in high‑traffic residential and clinical areas
- Support infection prevention through environmental sanitation
- Safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
- Identify and report mechanical or structural issues
- Assist with minor repairs when qualified
- Ensure safe storage and upkeep of all equipment
- Wash, vacuum, and clean facility vehicles
- Perform basic interior and exterior vehicle upkeep
- Report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of organizational fleet
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and facility safety protocols
- Use PPE and safe work practices at all times
- Report hazards, damage, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Support Environment of Care safety standards
- Ensure safe work practices around clients and staff
- Assist Facilities Manager with maintenance requests and repairs
- Support setup and breakdown for events and activities
- Assist with supply organization and storage areas
- Participate in facility improvement and construction projects as assigned
- Maintain clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for clients
- Ensure outdoor areas are safe and accessible
- Support positive milieu through environmental upkeep
- Participate in recreational or community events when needed
- Maintain professional behavior at all times
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with residential, clinical, and administrative teams
- Maintain respect for client confidentiality and treatment environment
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Leadership or designee
