Job Overview
The General Maintenance Worker will operate, maintain, repair and install equipment, components, and systems that support the facility and heavy equipment. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems and completes the necessary repairs.
Pay Rate: $31.16 / hour
Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, repair and install equipment, components, and systems that support the facility and heavy equipment.
- Plan and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
- Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Plan, organize work and meet all deadlines.
- Do a variety of tasks in any single day.
- Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
- Inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
- Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
- Operate Government or Chugach-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Coordinate with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
- Help perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items.
- Perform file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering.
- Support and assist other trade groups and department staff as needed or directed.
- Adhere to the established CFS safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of operations and maintenance experience with heavy equipment machinery.
- Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with basic mathematical functions.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Welding experience.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Possess the required security clearance.
- Experience operating heavy equipment ( Loaders, Skid Steers, Bobcat, etc. )
