Overview
Location:
FHN Memorial Hospital
Shift: Variable, Monday - Friday (possible weekend shift based on current projects).
Schedule:
Five 8-hour days.
We are currently accepting applications for this position, with an anticipated hire date at the end of April. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for consideration.
Responsibilities- Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures, and performs other duties as assigned (e.g., snow removal).
- Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
- Prepares surfaces and may remove old paint to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
- Selects premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
- Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting. Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
- Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
- Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- Knowledge in the use of a computer and related organizational programs with CMMS is required.
- Maintains a complete electronic inventory of all finishes of all campus buildings.
- May perform some construction and demolishing duties as necessary.
- May be required to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends to help with special events.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to three years’ experience in painting, plastering, and wall covering.

Maintain a valid driver’s license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth’s HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. - For Those Driving Their Personal Vehicles:

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/move over 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
