Heritage Woods of Freeport is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team! This position will be cross‑trained between the Maintenance and Dietary Departments to ensure seamless support across Community operations and resident care experiences.

• Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, oversee the Community safety program and maintain a secure resident home and working environment in compliance with policy and regulations.
• Sustain a preventative maintenance program to maintain proper functioning of all Community equipment, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Complete all maintenance requests, both scheduled and emergency, quickly and efficiently.
• Mechanically repair, replace, and/or install minor equipment, hardware, and controls. Such scope of work is to be cleared by the Executive Director.
• Maintain water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, kitchen equipment and associated equipment.
• Maintain community plumbing systems.
• Perform exterior maintenance duties.
• Perform fire and disaster drill activities with residents and team members.
• Engage with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner, cultivating a warm and supportive environment where the values of love, compassion, and dignity are reflected in every interaction.

• High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
• Experience in HVAC systems and/or electrical required.
• Prior senior living experience desired.
• Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
