Building Engineer

About the Role

Hands‑on problem solver with a passion for keeping facilities safe, efficient, and operational is invited to grow with a global leader in real estate services onsite at a large pharmaceutical company in Fremont, CA.

Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday, 2 pm – 10:30 am.

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life‑safety, and control systems; keep facilities and building systems up to applicable standards.
• Align work with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Maintain an energy‑management program, ensuring all systems operate efficiently.
• Assist with a preventive‑maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life; perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
• Conduct inspections of building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operation within design capabilities and achieve environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
• Apply advanced knowledge to tackle sophisticated problems, mentor others across fields, and lead by example in alignment with CBRE RISE values to foster collaboration and consensus.

• High school diploma, GED, trade‑school diploma, or equivalent experience with 4‑5 years of job‑related experience.
• Ability to work a swing shift and on weekends.
• EPA/CFC certification preferred; certifications/licenses as required by local or state jurisdictions. Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Meet the physical requirements (stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting/carrying 50 lb. or more).
• Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Willingness to take new perspective on existing solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); prior CMMS experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive attitude.
• Sophisticated math skills (calculating percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations).

$50–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
