On-call Custodian

On-Call Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.

This on‑call role is required from 10:00pm to 6:30am, with compensation of $18.25 per hour.

• Perform janitorial duties as outlined in the daily schedule
• Handle hazardous waste, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor
• Comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Address risk behaviors of self and others
• Collaborate with teammates to complete work assignments
• Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Respond to direction and supervision
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers
• Fill in during staff shortages and aid shift leads with punch‑list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct

Education and Experience: No specific education requirement. 3–6 months of training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license may be required. Completion of all safety and task training certifications is required. Forklift certification may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bilingual a plus
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share with the team
• Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
