Position: Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd and 3rd shift Openings

Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift will assist with all maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire plant operation. This includes functions in Maintenance Business Management, Maintenance Materials Inventory (MRO), Maintenance Recruit to Retire, Manufacturing Process Reliability and Equipment Reliability. Areas include budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs, and management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems (process equipment, packaging equipment), waste treatment, stockroom, building and grounds, utilities system including boiler and ammonia refrigeration.

Also, assistance with development, coordination and execution of maintenance related capital budget items in concert with engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Directs maintenance personnel to ensure all systems operate at their highest capability to meet production schedules, quality, costs and priorities.
  • Improve reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost and avoid loss of production due to equipment malfunction or failure time.
  • Determine equipment capabilities, safety and operational condition in coordination with other Supervisors and technicians.
  • Develop preventative maintenance procedures that are cost effective and increase the operational life of equipment.
  • Seek and implement continuous improvement of the process through equipment improvement modifications.
  • Assist in the development of system and operational standards and corrective actions.
  • Develop, implement and review site-specific maintenance logs for the department.
  • Coordinate, arrange and supervise, or provide for the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company procedures, practices and financial considerations.
  • Provide maintenance training including effective use of maintenance logs and routine maintenance specific to facility and equipment operations and support.
  • Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for job completion.
  • Assist with preparing requisitions to determine the number of spare parts to be kept in inventory.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental operating budget at a positive variance by effectively utilizing the workforce and equipment.
  • Assist with safety training, monthly safety meetings, serve as a safety committee member, and support the 9-key element process.
  • Evaluate long-term needs in relation to major projects and factory improvements.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe, operable condition and arrange for replacements/upgrades as needed.
  • Establish procedures and contacts to ensure timely repairs of equipment.
  • Direct workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and utility systems maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Develop department employee relations through ongoing communication and monthly departmental safety meetings; participate in Plant Safety and Ergonomics committees.
  • Analyze production downtime reports, identify opportunities, and initiate action plans to increase efficiencies.
  • Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in developing procedures and corrective actions.
  • Oversee and lead the implementation of the QRMP system and standards to achieve targeted results.
  • Assist and partner with business leaders on process improvement initiatives (Six Sigma / Lean/KHMS) including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.
  • Supervise Maintenance staff including performance management and employee development.
  • Communicate with outside agencies (contractors, equipment suppliers, technical consultants, vendors).
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager, other Supervisors, team members, and Human Resources to ensure effective operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of related leadership experience in a Manufacturing environment
