Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA.

Pay: $26/hr – $29.22/hr + $7/hr (Health & Wellness benefit through Union)

We are currently seeking to hire an Aircraft Mechanic Helper at our Naval Base Ventura County,
Point Mugu, CA facility to provide Aerial Target Operations and Maintenance Support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Pacific Target and Marine Operations Division.

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aerial targets, including BQM-74, BQM-177, BQM-34, and GQM-163, and associated support equipment under direct and indirect supervision.
• Assist with target decontamination processes and procedures.
• Repair engines or structures at the organizational level.
• Perform and oversee testing to ensure functionality in accordance with NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane operations with technical and medical qualification.
• Follow basic tool control procedures and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Handle and use associated ordnance (e.g., small CADS, RATO/JATO, flares) in support of target operations.
• Participate in technical field activities and vendor visits as part of a team.
• Complete other duties as assigned, such as parachute packing or HAZMAT work.

• Work conducted in enclosed buildings with sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
• Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs unassisted and 50–100 lbs with assistance.
• Work schedule:
  
  9/80 (Mon–Thu 9 hours; alternating Fridays: off or 8‑hour day).
• Overtime may be required.
• Routine travel required; primary location is NAWCWD Point Mugu, CA.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years’ experience performing general maintenance and repair.
• Team player who works well with others.
• Familiarity with naval target maintenance (CNAFI 4790) programs – desired.
• Basic mechanical‑avionics background or engine experience – desired.
• Current driver’s license and eligibility to be insured under company vehicle insurance.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance within 90 days of hire.
• Pass background screening (SSN, driver record, criminal investigation).
