Service Technician Apprentice

Overview

Affinity Truck Center is an established leader in new and used truck sales, parts and service, lease and rental, and financing. We’re seeking motivated individuals interested in developing a career as a Service Technician. This entry‑level position is designed for employees who demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and desire to grow within the diesel and commercial truck industry.

The Service Technician Apprentice will work closely with an assigned technician to gain hands‑on experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair while learning industry best practices and safety procedures.

• Work alongside an assigned technician to learn to perform quality vehicle service maintenance and repairs.
• Assist the assigned technician as needed.
• Deliver customer vehicles to service stalls as requested.
• Pick up parts from the parts department as directed.
• Perform safety inspections, oil changes, lubrication work, basic maintenance, and minor repairs as directed.
• Replenish supplies as requested by technicians or the service manager.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Attend training classes and departmental meetings.
• Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• One‑year certificate from college or technical school.
• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The schedule will vary based on business needs, customer schedules, seasonality, and other factors. Travel out of state may be required for meetings, training, or conventions and will be reimbursed in accordance with Affinity Truck Center’s travel policy.

• Frequently work inside/outside in varying weather and temperatures.
• Occasional exposure to excessive loud noise.
• Frequent exposure to dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, etc.
• Lifting and carrying: frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 90 pounds.
• Bending, twisting, stooping, reaching: capable of frequent twisting and bending down to pick up items from lower shelves, and reaching up for items stored at higher levels.
• Vision: at least 20/40 acuity in each eye with or without correction.
• Hearing: ability to perceive a “forced whisper” at a distance of 5 feet or less, with or without hearing aids.
• Mobility: ability to enter and exit the vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Mobility: capability to climb into and out of trucks, maintaining three points of contact at all times.
• Dexterity in operating controls such as steering wheels, pedals, and gear shifts.
• Standing: ability to remain in a stationary position for a certain percentage of the workday, such as 50% or more.
• Walking: regularly moving on foot within the work area, navigating tight spaces or uneven surfaces.
• Hand dexterity: frequent use of hands and arms for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching, typing, etc.
• Sitting: frequent sitting while using a computer, operating a vehicle, operating a forklift, driving a golf cart, sitting at a desk, attending meetings, trainings, seminars, etc.

$25.00‑$33.80 per hour. In addition to base pay, total compensation may vary based on hours worked, performance, skill set, eligibility for overtime, performance‑based bonuses or commissions, and employer‑paid benefits.
