The Plant Operations Tech – Painter/Carpenter is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining equipment and space under the responsibility of all Plant Operations departmental functions in support of the hospital’s mission, vision, and facility goals. The Plant Operations Tech works under the supervision of and in coordination with the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and the Director of Plant Operations. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.
The Plant Operations Painter/Carpenter assists the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and the Director of Plant Operations in identifying and resolving issues affecting the Plant Operations department. The Painter/Carpenter works to meet departmental and facility goals.
The Plant Operations Painter/Carpenter is responsible for the construction, demolition, repair, and maintenance of walls, partitions, ceilings, fixtures, and other needs as required for hospital buildings or structures. Work will be completed in accordance with the written and oral instructions and specifications. Performs all types of drywall work from installation of framing, sheetrock, taping and bedding, sanding, and patchwork. Applies finishes which include paint, enamels, varnish, lacquer, wallpaper, and paneling.
Familiar with the use of hand and power tools, paint brushes, rollers, scrapers, etc., as required for the job at hand.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of repair and maintenance of equipment found in a hospital setting other than that maintained by Bio‑Med services.
- Good aural activity for detecting equipment malfunctions.
- Good eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Good communication skills
