Janitor, Commercial Cleaning
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary manufacturing environment in a contract manufacturing facility that produces personal care and over-the-counter (OTC) products. This position supports compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), company quality standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements by ensuring production, warehouse, laboratory, office, and common areas are consistently maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities
- Carry out responsibilities in compliance with company policies, work procedures, and federal, state and local laws. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and health and safety rules and regulations.
- Clean and sanitize manufacturing, production, warehouse, office, laboratory, breakroom, and restroom areas according to established procedures.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove waste from designated areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste in accordance with company procedures.
- Clean floors, walls, windows, doors, and other facility surfaces.
- Replenish janitorial and restroom supplies, including paper products, soap, and sanitizing materials.
- Support facility cleanliness programs to maintain GMP-compliant conditions.
- Follow cleaning schedules and complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Respond promptly to spills and contamination events using approved cleaning methods.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and notify supervision when repairs or replacements are needed.
- Assist with facility inspections and audits by ensuring assigned areas meet cleanliness standards.
- Observe and report maintenance, safety, or sanitation concerns.
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and hazard communication procedures.
- Support pest control and housekeeping programs by identifying and reporting potential issues.
- Assist with special cleaning projects and facility shutdowns.
- Prepare and use approved cleaning and sanitizing solutions in accordance with established procedures.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals and waste materials in compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Follow all GMP, FDA, OSHA, and company safety policies.
- Participate in inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective action activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.
- Perform tasks with safety in mind for self and others
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of GMP and sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to identify and elevate quality or compliance concerns.
- Ability to accurately complete GMP documentation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a positive and productive relationship with co-workers and others with whom the position may have contact.
- Must be able to work onsite and support flexible shifts and overtime as production requires.
