Job Description:
The HPWT Custodial Worker II provides cleaning services to university offices, classrooms, restrooms, laboratories, and other facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, sweeping, mopping, floor care, window and glass cleaning, and waste disposal. Assists skilled trades employees by performing tasks including, but not limited to, preparation of job site, changing belts, filters, lights, and ceiling tiles. Completes light plumbing work to include, but not limited to, opening clogged drains, repairing leaky fixtures, cleanup of water leaks and spills and changing light bulbs or fixing light fixtures.
- Cleans and maintains daily all halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, elevators including sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wet-mopping, spot-mopping, reconditioning of floors and spot washing and cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions.
- Performs minor repair work on furniture, fixtures, floors, plumbing, etc. Assists skilled trades employees by performing tasks including, but not limited to, preparation of job site, changing belts, filters, lights, and ceiling tiles. Completes light plumbing work to include, but not limited to, opening clogged drains, repairing leaky fixtures, as well as cleanup of water leaks and spills.
- Cleans and maintains all floors and floor coverings including regular duties such as vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, sealing and waxing.
- Cleans all entrances, entrance walks, steps and concourses.
- Spot cleans and cleans all exterior and interior glass surfaces of all assigned buildings; cleans ceiling lights and blinds.
- Empties and cleans all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, water fountains and doormats.
- Assists Maintenance Staff in painting, replacement, remodeling, construction projects, and other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Mechanic.
- Normal work schedule:
Various work schedules; workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage and/or departmental needs. Some overtime may be required. Total hours per week: 40. - Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes. Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.
A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area; or completion of the ninth grade and three years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma and two (2) years of commercial custodial experience. Mechanical aptitude and abilities.
