  • Summary:

    Under the general supervision of the Director of Maintenance.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains clean and organized work vehicle.
  • Maintains all equipment and tools in good working order.
  • Safely loads, unloads, and secures all equipment, tools, and other items to be transported, either by vehicle or trailer.
  • Procures and returns materials, equipment, and tools from/to stock.
  • Immediately report safety hazards which affect the welfare of student, system employees or visitors.
  • Maintains safe work site.
  • Routinely climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Routinely lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Works indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, heat, wet, and high humidity.
  • Follows written and oral instructions.
  • Completes carpentry work as assigned.
    Examples include, but not limited to:
    • Cabinetry
    • Bookshelves
    • Minor renovations
  • Completes plumbing work as assigned.
    Examples include, but not limited to: Repair toilets, sinks, water lines, sewer lines, etc.
  • Completes electrical work as assigned.
    Examples include, but not limited to:
    • Repair lights, receptacles, and switches
    • Wire new circuits
    • Wire small structures such as field houses and press boxes
  • Operates maintenance machinery in a safe manner.
  • Follows the standard purchasing procedure for the school system.
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude toward the public and colleagues and exhibits the fundamentals of public/customer service.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to the chain of command.
  • Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities.
  • Takes initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of the job; performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
  • Remains on call during after hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Performs all other duties, and assumes all other school or system related responsibilities, as assigned by the Maintenance Director.
  • Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
    • Experience performing general maintenance duties desirable
    • A valid Georgia Driver’s License
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
    Physical Demands
    • Medium Work: Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and/or moving 10-25 pounds frequently.
    • Heavy Work: Occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds, and/or frequently moving 25-50 pounds, and/or constantly moving 10-20 pounds.
