The Facilities Helper assists with a variety of trades duties typical of the day-to-day operations for all departments within Facilities Services.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties Include- Assists the Carpentry, Custodial, Groundskeeping, Central Receiving, and Warehouse departments with their day-to-day functions and activities.
- Assists with the set up and breakdown of furniture and equipment for campus events.
- Provides support to Trades personnel regarding the maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance work on commercial and residential style Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing systems as needed.
- May assist with the installation of Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing parts, equipment, and systems.
- Follows complex directions with attention to detail and safely uses job related hand tools and power tools.
- Operates power washers and steam cleaning equipment.
- Works from aerial lifts, elevated platforms, and ladders.
- Assists with record keeping by maintaining records for repairs performed.
- Completes, in full, all appropriate paperwork and/or online forms as needed.
- Picks up parts from supply houses as needed for repairs.
- Cleans and organizes workstation, equipment and mechanical rooms to maintain a safe work environment.
- Promotes and adheres to all recognized safety practices and standards and attends safety meetings.
- Provides service to the college through participation in events, committees, and other college activities.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
A criminal background check will be conducted. Applicants must have a valid Florida Class E Operator (driver’s) license and be authorized to drive for the college. Must be able to lift/carry items more than 20 pounds; push and pull; bend and stoop; reach and grasp; and other repetitive motions.
