Job Details:
This position serves as a Building Attendant for the Cultural Affairs Division within the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The role provides on‑site support for cultural facilities and events, helping ensure spaces are prepared, welcoming, and operating smoothly for programs, rentals, and public activities.
This position averages approximately 20–25 hours per week, with hours scheduled based on program and event needs, including evenings and weekends.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:
- Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set‑up and clean‑up after events and activities.
- Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.
- Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in the event of an emergency.
- Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.
- Enforces applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.
- Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

Job Functions:
- May perform lead worker or supervisory duties with contract and temporary employees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires physical strength and agility. May need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Uniform is supplied and must be worn in compliance with the dress code.
This position requires DCF screening.
