Overview:

This full-time Other Personal Services (OPS) position is based out of the FWC’s Conservation Engagement and Education’s Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network. The FWC is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual to work as the facility representative of the program team at the Joe Budd Youth Conservation Center in Midway, just outside Tallahassee. The incumbent will independently ensure the facility premises and equipment are clean, well kept, and in good repair.

Interested individuals must be passionate about getting youth outside to create the next generation that cares about fish and wildlife resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two yearsof professional experience in facilities maintenance, including grounds keeping and janitorial work.
  • A degree or in the apprentice program from a vocational or trade school may substitute for one year of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in construction, pipe fitting, HVAC maintenance, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation (archery, fishing, paddle sports, and shooting sports) is highly desirable.
  • Experience using MIcrosoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Requirements:

Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.

  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Occasional travel for meetings and events required (1-25%).
  • May require work time outside of regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Up to 40 hours per week 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET) Monday-Friday.
  • Successful completion of the following FWC-provided trainings within the first 8 months of employment:
    Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification, trailering, chainsaw operation, ATV training, and purchasing training.
