Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
This position is responsible for efficient operation, upkeep, and repair of equipment, facilities, and systems. It performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, and responds to maintenance requests to minimize downtime and ensure a safe working environment.
PrimaryKey Responsibilities
- Hold self-accountable to create and maintain a safe working environment
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure equipment.
- Diagnose malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform corrective maintenance action.
- Perform changeovers and adjust machines to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Maintain maintenance records for individual work in CMMS.
- Plan and install new electrical connections for manufacturing equipment.
- Mechanically diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment.
- Modify electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer.
- Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical control systems via online connection to PLCs and understanding of ladder diagram language to identify inputs and outputs.
- 5S Responsibilities.
- Comply with all company procedures, policies, and work instructions.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing, and carpentry duties as needed for the facility.
- Read and interpret drawings and schematics to locate problem areas and suggest methods for corrective action.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- 2-5 years of related experience.
- Proficient with basic PLC troubleshooting and programming.
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Effective professional communication skills when dealing with the public or employees at any level.
- Ability to safely work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, talk or hear, and smell. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit and stoop or crouch. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Requires close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock; and loud noise levels.
