About UsThe NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.
Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and provides facility maintenance support to a multi-custody female correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance tasks ensuring that assigned systems, equipment, and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
- Requiring to have multiple trade skills to allow the individual to deal with the variety of maintenance tasks that will have to be dealt with on a routine basis at a correctional facility.
- Performing at the semi-skilled level for various maintenance trades as required.
- Supervising skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labor. (including offenders) to assist in completing assigned tasks.
(Salary Range: $39,671 - $69,426)

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.
Note To Current State EmployeesThe salary grade for this position is NC09
. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education And ExperienceHigh School or General Educational Development (GED) certificate AND two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special QualificationMay require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart
