Custodial Supervisor
The Custodial Supervisor manages the daily activities of custodial personnel to ensure buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. This role includes supervising staff, inspecting work quality, scheduling assignments, training employees, and ensuring compliance with APPA cleaning standards. This position requires climbing ladders. Working in confined spaces and other physically demanding duties. Also required are physical mobility, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift at least 70 lbs.
The incumbent must understand that the college may change the working hours to better serve the students and other employees.
1. Supervise and lead a team of custodial employees responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of campus facilities.
2. Assign daily work schedules and monitor staff performance to ensure all assigned areas are cleaned according to university standards.
3. Train custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques (APPA Standards), equipment operation, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
4. Ensure campus buildings are clean, safe, and presentable for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
5. Accountable for all tools, equipment, and supplies issued.
6. Coordinate floor care, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, pressure washing, and other specialized custodial services.
7. Conduct routine inspections of classrooms, laboratories, residence halls, restrooms, offices, dining areas, athletic facilities, and common spaces.
8. Operate and oversee the safe use of custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, extractors, and other cleaning machinery.
9. Maintains employee records to include time cards, leave records, and disciplinary actions.
10. Inspect and report facility maintenance issues requiring repair to the appropriate maintenance department.
11. Assist with the movement of equipment and furniture as well as setup and tear down for campus functions.
12. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate custodial services for campus activities.
13. Train custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment operation, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
14. Manage inventory of custodial supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed while maintaining budget guidelines.
15. All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Physical Plant or Dean of Business Services.
Mandatory
Qualifications:
(M1) Must have a High school or GED diploma.
(M2) Must have 3 years experience in the supervision of personnel.
(M3) Must have 5 years of custodial experience.
(M4) Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
(M5) Must be able to communicate effectively with college personnel at all levels.
