Job Summary

The janitor cleans and maintains the building and grounds, performing a combination of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, and fixtures; polishing metal fixtures; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.

• Maintain overall care of the building and grounds following proper cleaning procedures.
• Vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, and empty trash in all areas daily.
• Operate floor buffer and scrubber machines to clean rugs and other surfaces.
• Clean glass on all doorways and entrances to offices.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after cleaning.
• Notify management of needed repairs.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous custodial field experience preferred.
• Ability to comprehend basic written and oral instructions.
• Customer‑service skills, internal and external.
• Cooperative, with good personal and grooming habits.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly working area to maximize efficiency.

Employee regularly required to walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to kneel, sit, lift or move products and supplies up to 25 pounds. Requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise level usually quiet to moderate.
