Position Title: Facilities Mechanic Department: Club Maintenance

Reports To: Facilities Manager FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall condition of Rehoboth Beach Country Club’s buildings, mechanical systems, and equipment. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work across multiple trades to ensure uninterrupted club operations and an exceptional member experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs general maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, refrigeration, appliances, elevators, ventilation systems, carpentry, painting, and building structures.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and maintains preventative maintenance schedules to ensure mechanical systems and equipment remain in proper working order.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks based on safety and operational impact.
  • Conducts daily walkthrough inspections of Club facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and operational deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing issues including leaking pipes, faucets, and clogged drains.
  • Performs painting, carpentry, minor electrical, and other general repair work as needed.
  • Maintains workshop and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Identifies and corrects potential safety hazards to prevent injuries and property damage.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and all Club safety policies including PPE usage, ladder safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper chemical handling.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and preventative maintenance logs.
  • Monitors work performed by outside contractors and communicates project status to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assists with facility setup and breakdown for tournaments, special events, and Club functions as needed.
  • Ensures refuse and recycling are properly removed from Club premises when required.
  • Maintains professional and courteous communication with members, guests, and staff at all times.

    WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
    • Availability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours as operationally required.
    • Overtime may be required based on Club needs.
    • On-call availability may be required.

    QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Trade school certification preferred
    Experience
    • 3–5 years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician or apprentice trade preferred.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance practices.
    • Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and written instructions.
    • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and building automation systems.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle urgent situations calmly and effectively.
    • Organized, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented.
    • Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a private club environment.
    • Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with members and staff.
    • Commitment to confidentiality regarding Club operations and member matters.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
    • Exposure to extreme heat, cold, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
    • Exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and maintenance‑related materials.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and working in confined spaces.
    • Ability to work at heights using ladders and lifts.
    • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
    • Ability to work extended shifts ranging from 5–13 hours as operationally required.
