Custodian

Overview

F/T Custodian (Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 11:30pm) at Southern Elementary School. Safely and efficiently perform custodial duties to maintain clean, healthy, safe, and attractive facilities for students, staff, and visitors.

• Perform custodial duties as assigned by the chief custodian or building administrator to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Develop and implement custodial services that contribute to a clean, comfortable, healthy, safe, and attractive building.
• Ensure classrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and facilities are maintained to standard.

• Cleaning: scrub, wax, buff, dust, sweep or clean floors, walls, blinds, furniture, lavatories, classrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, locker rooms, lockers, shelves, fixtures and glass surfaces.
• Maintain and perform minor repairs of furniture.
• Clean and maintain cafeteria areas: floors, hoods, filters, hand washing sinks, grease traps, and related surfaces; manage cleanliness during lunch periods.
• Deliver government surplus supplies and frozen food cases to storage areas as needed.
• Empty trash in kitchen and cafeteria areas; assist in snow removal when required.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs to building facilities, including replacement of small window glass.
• Regular attendance as an essential duty.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Flexible for shift/schedule changes based on district needs; advance notice provided except in emergencies.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to work in extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions; repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending.
• Neat and clean appearance; able to get along with adults and students; good moral character; honest, dependable, and courteous.
• Ability to follow instructions and seek clarification when needed; able to read, write, and communicate professionally with staff and students.
• Valid drivers license preferred.

The employee must be able to lift, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds; perform repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending; work in extreme temperatures; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and see with various vision capabilities as needed for job tasks.

• Satisfactory Criminal Background Check (less than 1 year old).
• Delaware Child Protection Registry, TB Test (less than 1 year old).
• Signed Social Security card required for payroll purposes; up loadable during onboarding.
• I-9 Form with appropriate identification.
• Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.
