Job Summary
An incumbent is responsible for maintaining the buildings and outside grounds in a clean and orderly condition and for interacting with students and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
Work Hours and LocationPosition Type:
Regular Part‑Time (Up to 29 hours per week)
Work Hours:
Monday‑Thursday, 5 p.m.–11 p.m.;
Friday, 5 p.m.–10 p.m.
Location:
Owens Campus, Georgetown, DE.
Salary: $15.76 per hour

Position Pay Grade: B/C 04
- Perform general custodial work according to institutional sanitation standards.
- Assist with some groundskeeping and limited maintenance when needed.
- Interact frequently with students and assist them with directions and general inquiries.
- Clean and wax floors using vacuums, scrubbers and buffers.
- Use chemicals safely according to prescribed directions.
- Clean trash and waste containers and ensure recyclable materials are separated.
- Clean kitchen areas, bathrooms, and educational laboratories as assigned and keep areas disinfected; dispose of laboratory waste per procedures.
- Hang drapes, clean windows, desks, and chairs in classrooms.
- Arrange furniture for special meetings and social functions.
- Replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles as needed.
- Operate motor vehicles, mowers, snow removal equipment, etc.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures in use and application of chemicals, solvents, etc.
- Ability to learn materials, methods, and practices used in custodial work.
- Ability to learn operation and care of vacuums, scrubbers, buffers, and other equipment.
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions.
- Ability to operate and make simple adjustments to housekeeping/grounds equipment.
Completion of ten (10) years formal schooling; or other equivalent combination of education and experience.
