Assistant Maintenance Manager
Location: Georgetown, KY 40324
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Shift: Day Shift | Monday–Friday (Weekends & On-Call as Needed)
Position SummaryThe Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing daily maintenance operations across production equipment, facilities, and building systems. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, maintaining safety compliance, managing preventive maintenance programs, and leading maintenance teams to meet productivity and quality goals.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day production maintenance operations, including facilities, buildings, and all plant equipment
- Direct and lead technical and non-technical employees and external contractors
- Ensure all equipment remains operational, safe, and functional to minimize downtime
- Manage and coordinate the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for all shop equipment and machinery
- Prioritize maintenance tasks in collaboration with production management
- Oversee facilities maintenance and upkeep while managing assigned budgets
- Plan, schedule, and control maintenance, janitorial services, vendors, and related costs
- Request, review, and submit work orders, bids, and vendor proposals
- Maintain knowledge of building and plant systems including:
- Electrical systems
- HVAC, air handling units, rooftop units
- Plumbing
- Overhead doors and dock levelers
- Mechanical systems
- Process controls
- Power transmission systems
- Pumps, valves, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Develop and execute comprehensive inspection programs (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual)
- Schedule and document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and testing
- Maintain and update equipment records and maintenance documentation
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and hazardous waste regulations
- Manage parts, tools, and inventory to support timely repairs and minimal downtime
- Schedule work based on job priority and equipment availability
- Ensure all safety training and required documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through problem-solving and process enhancements
- Strong working knowledge of building systems within a manufacturing environment
- Well-rounded experience in plant equipment maintenance, repair, and operations
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Electrical systems
- Welding and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and control diagrams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance crews or teams
- Ability to work on-call, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Associate Degree (AA) preferred
- 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in maintenance or facilities
