Job Description

First Shift Custodian – 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Provided students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Accredited GED.

Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.

Must be able to perform heavy physical labor such as lifting garbage bags that weigh 50 pounds.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain all boilers and other major equipment.

Supervise and participate in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general mechanical areas.

Replace broken windows.

Assist general mechanics in remodeling and renovation work.

Generally supervise and maintain the school grounds.

Assist in snow removal.

Supervise and participate in the general cleaning and maintenance of the school building.

Requisition s and receive supplies and equipment and maintain necessary inventories.

Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.

Assume responsibility for the general safety of the building.

Make building repairs that he/she is capable of.

Report immediately to the principal any damage to school property.

Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.

Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand, and requisition such needed replacements from the principal far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his duties.

Conduct an on‑going program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.

Perform emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.

Complete all tasks in the shortest possible time.

Perform other duties that may be assigned.
