POSITION OBJECTIVES

To support and assist on a part‑time basis the maintenance efforts that allow for optimum results in efficiency, reliability, and prompt maintenance and cleaning of buildings and grounds so as to present a favorable image of the Cooperative, and to consistently work and communicate in a team environment in accordance with the Cooperative's mission, vision, and values.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to perform elementary arithmetic, read and understand instructions, and complete routine reports. Preference for specialized training in custodial functions.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) year experience in building maintenance and repairs of a general nature (painting, lamp and fixture replacement, shrubbery and tree pruning, care of plants and flowers) and janitorial services (cleaning, waxing, polishing floors, windows, and other office areas).

KNOWLEDGE

Working knowledge of custodial duties, safety hazards (fire, electrical shock, broken windows, improper storage of flammable materials, slippery floors), and grounds maintenance (shrubbery, lawns).

SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, wet/dry mopping, lavatory cleaning, floor cleaning and maintenance, glass and tile cleaning, light fixture cleaning and bulb replacement, carpet care, insect and rodent control, exterior cleaning (sidewalks, windows, buildings), de‑icing walkways and entrances, use of power‑driven equipment such as lawn mowers and floor scrubbing machines.

District Manager;
District Coordinator, Engineering & Operations and/or District Director Office Services.

Internal:
Actively participates within the Cooperative team environment to develop supportive relationships essential for the success of this role, encouraging teamwork and cooperative spirit.

External:
Develops and maintains supportive relationships with members/consumers, the general public, and other contacts to assure positive results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER CONDITIONS

This is medium work that requires repetitive motions, hearing, talking, feeling, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, reaching, crawling, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing. Requires visual acuity in mobile equipment operations and may be subject to inside and outside environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, vibrations, hazards).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain buildings and grounds an and wash all office windows and exterior walls.
  • Clean, wax, and polish floors and furniture.
  • Remove trash, sweep office, and polish furniture.
  • Clean bathroom floors and fixtures. Vacuum all carpets.
  • Clean and maintain break room and kitchen areas.
  • Perform minor repairs, including maintenance, carpentry activities, and painting as required.
  • Submit requisitions for essential supplies and equipment to designated Supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment and tools used in custodial work.
  • Replace bulbs and ensure lights in all spaces operate properly.
  • Clean and maintain all sidewalks and parking areas.
  • Assist staff in setting up and breaking down meeting rooms.
  • Load and unload material in or out of storage areas as directed.
  • Clean cooperative truck storage and warehousing space as needed.
  • Collect, remove, and dispose of all trash from building and warehouse.
  • Keep storage areas neat and orderly.
  • Submit timely timesheets indicating duties performed.
  • Safeguard buildings after office hours.
  • Receive communications and directives, confirm understanding, and keep supervisor informed.
  • Follow the Cooperative's Safety Manual best safety practices.
  • Stay informed of Cooperative policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.
