Aboutthe Job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Vienna within the Engineering Department in Vienna, the Hotel Engineer is responsible for various duties. The Assistant to Director of Engineering reports to the Director of Engineering.
As a Hotel Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Upkeep and maintenance of technical facilities:
Supports the installation and testing of building service systems such as heating, cooling, air conditioning (HVAC), electric, sanitary and elevators. - Troubleshooting and maintenance:
Conducts repairs and maintenance work on existing technical systems to ensure that all facilities function. - Supervises technical infrastructure:
Supports the inspection of all technical facilities, ensuring that the highest quality and safety standards are met. - Inspection of furniture:
Ensures that all furniture such as beds, chairs, desks and cupboards are intact, clean and functions correctly. Repairs damage or deterioration. - Lighting:
Checks lamps and lighting for functionality. Defective light bulbs or lamps should be promptly replaced. - Electronics:
Monitors electronic equipment (TV, air conditioning, heating, safe, minibar, telephone, etc.) to ensure that everything is functioning correctly. - Windows and doors:
Checks window and door seals for security and energy efficiency. - Walls, floors and ceilings:
Inspects damages such as tears, stains or water damage. Carries out small repairs or improvements as needed.
- Completed training in engineering, electrical installation or a comparable training
- Initial experience as an Hotel Engineer, ideally in a pre-opening hotel phase
- Basic knowledge of electrical, sanitary, heating, cooling and air conditioning systems (HVAC)
- Practical experience with maintenance and repair of technical facilities
- Strong problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of initiative and sense of responsibility
- Team player and strong communication skills
- Willingness to work flexibly
- Good spoken and written English skills are an advantage
- Completed apprenticeship (final apprenticeship examination passed)

The collective minimum gross monthly salary for this position is €2.263,00. There is a willingness to offer a higher salary depending on qualifications and work experience.
