Sanitation Worker

Blairsville Hatchery, Blairsville, GA

Typical 40 hours per week. Shift starts between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. The schedule may be adjusted as needed, including weekends, holidays, and some shift changes.

$17.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

This position is responsible for the sanitation/cleaning of the hatchery: sanitizing hatchers, setters, trays, racks, buggies, and all other hatchery equipment.

• Clean and sanitize hatchers and setters (50%).
• Clean and sanitize all hatchery equipment using high‑pressure and regular water hose (30%).
• Monitor and record temperatures in hatchers and setters (5%).
• Maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers; operate macerator, tray washer, tray, and set eggs; pull chicks; operate chick counter; pack or unpack eggs; keep a clean and organized work area (15%).

• Shower, change clothing and footwear before entering the facility; no jewelry except required medical  covered piercings.
• Willingness to sign an agreement to avoid avian species and abide by biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines.

• Lift or move 50 lbs. and push or pull 500‑1000 lbs.; overhead lifting required.
• Work on wet, slippery surfaces; stand most of shift; perform walking, stepping, reaching, and balancing tasks.
• Use safety glasses, goggles, face shields, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots when handling chemicals; ear protection as needed.
• Common chemicals:
  Formaldehyde, disinfectant, lubricants, and Virocid.
• Adhere to safety protocols such as hazard communication, respiratory protection, lock‑out/tag‑out, and PPE.

• Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer, with no employment gap greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. Layoff or caregiving gaps may increase the allowable gap to 18 months.
• Full‑time student status for the last 36 months is not considered work history.
• Rehire waiting period of at least 180 days.
• Maximum of 3 prior work periods at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
• Must be a U.S. resident.
• Preferred:
  Previous agricultural or production experience.
