This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of an assigned crew of stormwater maintenance personnel.

• Operates heavy equipment in the maintenance and repair of the storm water system; operates a loader, skid steer, backhoe, dump truck, excavator, street sweeper, etc.
• Enforces safe work procedures; ensures the establishment of safe work zones.
• Directs the work of crew personnel; ensures compliance with department policies and procedures.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools, including a chainsaw, weed eater, back-pack blower, etc.
• Assists in traffic control at work sites.
• Supervises and participates in the removal and installation of pipes.
• Supervises and participates in the maintenance of retention ponds.
• Supervises and participates in the regrading and cleaning of ditches.
• Grades and pours concrete.
• Grades and installs new rock retaining walls.
• Frames and pours concrete lids and headwalls.
• Locates underground utilities.
• Maintains tool and supply inventory.
• Responds to after-hours and weather-related emergencies during EOC activation.
• Assists with special city events.
• Prepares required reports.
• Must attend specialized training, including safety training, as required by management.

The Stormwater Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
