Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity to fill the position of Grounds Maintenance Worker I. The role focuses on providing best-in-class service to citizens while allowing professional growth in a rewarding and innovative work environment. The Grounds Maintenance I performs assessments, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and customer service associated with the maintenance of grounds, parks, athletic fields, and irrigation systems. Duties include mowing, weed control, turf maintenance, shrub and tree maintenance, and cleaning park facilities, courts, structures, fields, trails, and equipment.

Primary responsibilities involve routine irrigation system maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair of sprinkler heads, pipe fittings, solenoid valves, gate valves, service tees, and mainline repairs. Turf maintenance is also required, including cultural practices with motorized equipment, preparing and maintaining baseball and softball fields, marking field lines, and maintaining infield elements. The position also provides customer service, initiates problem resolution, follows established procedures, monitors work environment, and promotes safety.

• Perform routine irrigation system maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair.
• Maintain and clean park facilities, courts, structures, fields, trails, and equipment.
• Execute turf maintenance practices with motorized equipment.
• Prepare and maintain baseball and softball fields, including lines, infield work, and bullpens.
• Provide customer service, information, direction, and assistance related to services or issues.
• Initiate problem resolution and promote safety of assigned facility or area.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Six months previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, equipment operation, and manual labor.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.

• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and/or ordinances.
• Skill in equipment operation including multi and single deck mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and attachments such as aerators, gannons, top dresser, vacuum, rotiller, etc.
• Skill in power tool operation including chainsaw, pole saw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer, etc.
• Skill in cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
• Skill in working in a team environment and having customer service skills.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
