About the Role

This role reports to the Principal Program Manager, Compounding Lab Equipment & Reliability Maintenance. The Maintenance Tech II, Compounding Facilities provides mid‑level support to the Operations Engineering & Maintenance Department by applying predictive and preventive maintenance procedures for all laboratory equipment in the pharmacy. The position analyzes, troubleshoots, and communicates maintenance problems or concerns in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, and HVAC systems related to laboratory equipment.

Will
  • Provide predictive/preventive maintenance on all lab equipment—tablet presses, blenders, mills, hoods, tablet coaters, air compressors, electrical controls, etc.
  • Document maintenance data on predictive/preventive charts as required.
  • Conduct repair and troubleshooting duties throughout the pharmacy as needed.
  • Diagnose and repair all equipment in the labs, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compressors and HVAC.
  • Identify facility issues and develop a strategy to chart trends and take remedial action from a predictive maintenance standpoint.
  • Communicate safety‑risk or loss‑causing issues to management.
  • Maintain safety and health standards throughout the pharmacy.
  • Perform calibration and testing procedures to ensure accurate operation and compliance with quality standards.
  • Check and measure equipment performance parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, etc.).
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment meets regulatory and quality standards and take corrective action for non‑compliance.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and regulatory affairs teams to implement and maintain proper documentation, including equipment logs, maintenance records, and validation reports.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, emergencies, and production interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate repairs with production personnel to minimize disruptions to manufacturing.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings related to equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Participate in cross‑functional teams to implement improvement projects and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to pharmaceutical equipment maintenance.
You Have
  • Required to be at least 18 years old and able to provide state‑required proof of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks such as bending, stooping, overhead reach, ladder climbing, and stair climbing (up to three flights).
  • Proficiency with business computer systems—Word, Excel, and project management tools.
  • Independent troubleshooting of machinery without supervision.
  • Ability to document and interpret predictive/preventive maintenance data for process improvement.
  • Effective spoken and written English communication skills (bilingual in Spanish preferred).
  • Cooperative and collaborative working style acceptable to others and the organization.
  • Capacity to learn and apply cross‑functional training and willingness to assist other functions as needed.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including attendance, scheduling, honesty, confidentiality, safety, and conflict of interest.
  • Three or more years of industry experience in maintenance or engineering in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and operate advanced technical equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training or certification from an accredited institution in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, PLC system, or HVAC trades.
  • Five or more years of maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or pharmacy with the listed lab equipment.
  • Five or more years of electrical knowledge and electronic principles.
  • Advanced degree or training in engineering, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Advanced training in lean or Six Sigma.
