SUMMARY

The Custodian performs entry level and routine custodial maintenance of assigned school facilities and grounds for the School District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs cleaning, sanitizing and restocking of restrooms; provides set up, tears down and custodial services for programs, assemblies, and activities; receives, assembles, and sets up furniture and equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains classrooms, water fountains, playgrounds, landscaping, and sports activity areas.
  • Vacuum, shampoo, and maintains carpeted areas.
  • Cleans, mops, waxes, buffs, and polishes floors; strip wax as needed.
  • Unlocks and secures buildings and facilities for school day or events.
  • Monitors student and faculty utilization of facilities and equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Submits work orders for equipment and facility repairs.
  • Stocks supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Follows occupational safety and health regulations and guidelines.
  • Places and removes road crossing signs.
  • Assists in moving or repairing classroom and building furniture, equipment, and supplies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic custodial facility and grounds maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable occupational safety and health regulations and practices.
  • Knowledge of building and grounds security and closing practices and procedures.
  • Skill in performing basic custodial cleaning and maintenance of school facilities and grounds.
  • Skill in reading and following written instructions regarding the mixing and handling of cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
  • Skill in following written and oral communications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with three (3) months of on-the-job training.
  • Must possess a valid & current AZ Driver License with proper state-required insurance.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that meets minimum requirements.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification desired.
  • Maintain requirements for access to Fort Huachuca.

Computer Proficiency: Basic Computer Skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in school facilities and grounds environment. Indoors and outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. May be exposed to weather and/or road conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, heights, power tools, and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy tact with employees, students, and public.
