Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday: 5:00 PM-1:30 AM
Friday: 3:00 PM-11:30 PM

Hours:

Monday-Thursday: 4:00 PM-2:30 AM
(Some weekends may be required)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Specialists Supervisor, the custodian will assist in keeping the campus clean and safe by performing routine and special cleaning of facilities and buildings to ensure they are clean, sanitary and orderly.

Essential Functions
  • 30% – Clean classrooms, common areas, restrooms, locker rooms and equipment; wash and clean walls, windows, vents, light lenses.
  • 30% – Sweep, mop floors, wax floors, and vacuum floor/carpets (operate equipment such as buffers, auto‑scrubbers and burnishers).
  • 20% – Dust and polish furniture; empty trash for classrooms and common areas.
  • 10% – Perform assigned tasks in response to requests and complaints; maintain tools/equipment in clean and safe working condition.
  • 10% – Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of formal or informal education or experience that ensures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for successful performance of the duties described.
Desired Qualifications
  • A. Two (2) or more years’ experience cleaning a school, college or equivalent (government or business office).
  • B. Experience operating floor‑care equipment for projects such as stripping and waxing floors.
  • C. Experience using and labeling cleaning products and using PPE.
  • D. Experience in floor care, such as extracting carpets.
  • E. One (1) year of relevant full‑time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
Special Working Conditions

Medium work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Work is primarily performed in an indoor environment with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, gases, blood, or other body fluids). Work may sometimes occur in dusty or seldom occupied facilities.
